Climate & Development Knowledge Network

Our work 17/09/2010

CDKNWe're fairly new to public sector projects at Loft, but it's something we're keen to get more involved in. This might sound nuts given the cuts being pushed through right now, but there's a niche for us here: we really do know a thing or two at Loft about delivering ambitious, successful projects on remarkably tight budgets. It's all in the ideas, the strategy and the planning.

So we are very excited indeed to be working with the Climate & Development Knowledge Network, a partnership project involving the Overseas Development Institute, PwC, LEAD International and several other organisations, and funded by the Department for International Development.

Clever tech and a new look for SeatPlans.com

Our work 01/11/2009

SeatPlans.com

The recently launched SeatPlans.com is a site we’re particularly proud of. It’s a novel idea that allows flyers to read and share views on the best aeroplane seats. It shows users the best flights, airlines and seats on any journey around the world, based on reviews and ratings submitted by consumers, as opposed to comparing flights simply on price alone. Something important to a lot of flyers, and particularly frequent flyers.

New site for the Digital Artist Awards 2009!

Our work 09/04/2009

Digital Artist AwardsWe've just launched a rather exciting and colourful new website for the Digital Artist Awards 2009, sponsored by Intel and organised by the publisher of Computer Arts, .net, 3DWorld and ImagineFX magazines.

It's a great honour for us to be invited to build the site for this high profile industry event.

Pro and amateur designers, animators and FX supremos worldwide can register and upload their favourite works, together details about how they created them and team photos. There's even a 'Rising Stars' category open to under-16's, and a range of inspirational live masterclasses, kicked off by Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame.

New features for the National Equipment Register

Our work 20/03/2009

TER, The National Equipment Register, is the UK’s register of lost and stolen plant machinery. It provides a registration service, and a checking service for those buying such equipment to check that it has not been registered as stolen – a bigger problem than you’d imagine.

Sage 200 integration for Cyclescheme

Our work 28/02/2009

Cyclescheme Sage integrationPushing on with our end-to-end automation of Cyclescheme's online business processes, we have just completed a full integration from their extranet to Sage 200. This is enabling the company to handle a rapidly growing volume of business as they continue to win accounts with some of the UK’s largest employers. They will be able to process accounts in minutes, rather than hours, and with less risk of manual error.

Online hire agreements for Cyclescheme

Our work 06/01/2009

Cyclescheme logoCyclescheme enables you to buy a bike through your employer completely tax free, under a government scheme, saving many people about half the cost. Most spread the cost of the purchase over year, coming direct out of their pay packet, under a hire-purchase arrangement. This has been fairly labour-intensive to organise, as all the HP contracts need to be personalised, printed, sent out, tracked until return, recorded, and then archived, before bike vouchers can be issued.

Seat Plans LaunchesIn two smooth hours yesterday we launched SeatPlans.com – a brand new site for frequent flyers to read and share views on the best aeroplane seats for your money. The team at Business Traveller have prepared stacks of content, photos and seating diagrams, while here at Loft we’ve been busy with all the social technology, interface design and clever rankings algorithms.

Been flying lately? Share your opinions at www.seatplans.com.

Dropsend sold, Guardian blogs

News 28/09/2008

DropSendA very exciting time for loft and our old friends at Carsonified. We can confirm that DropSend has been acquired by Webminds, Inc, in the US, for an undisclosed sum.

DropSend is a web app for sending large files – up to 1GB – which loft owner Nick Nettleton built for Carsonified during 2005 and 2006. It was an immediate success, winning praise and great reviews, as well as turning a profit, from day one. Ry Carson sold the application so he could focus on the core, expanding areas of his business – primarily events.
